Keys If You Please Piano Studio Piano Lessons for Stanwood, Camano Island & Surrounding Areas

STUDIO POLICIES

My studio schedule roughly follows the Stanwood/Camano school district calendar.

Below you will find an abridged version of my studio policies. Students will be given a complete copy upon registration and the full version is available to download through the link on this page.

ATTENDANCE

Regular and prompt attendance is necessary to make consistent and appropriate progress. Parents or other coaches are expected to stay on-site and be actively engaged during their child’s lesson.

When you enroll in lessons, you are paying to secure a spot for the entire lesson cycle (Sept. - May). If for any reason you or your child is unable to attend a lesson, please inform me as soon as possible by text, phone or email. Tuition is based on enrollment, not attendance, and lessons you choose to miss or cancel will not be refunded. I will do my best to accommodate one makeup lesson per quarter according to schedule availability, but please keep in mind that my studio operates near full capacity and make-ups for missed lessons are not guaranteed. Lessons are also available via Skype or Zoom for lessons that would otherwise be missed due to minor illness, snow days, traveling, sibling illness, etc.

TUITION

Your tuition is a purchase of teacher and studio time that is reserved for you for the teaching year.  Tuition fees take into consideration not only lesson time and licensing fees, but the many hours that are spent in lesson planning, maintaining and developing teacher certifications, bookkeeping, etc.  Current tuition fees are a flat rate of $95/month for shared lessons and $120/month for private lessons.  (Summer quarter tuition varies.)

DISCOUNTS/BONUSES

Additional family members beyond the first student receive a $10 discount, as well as the shared lesson rate, if they are in the same class.  I appreciate word of mouth referrals. You will receive a $50 credit for each referral after they have paid for their second month of lessons.

CLASS LENGTH:

Weekly lessons,  1 or 2 students = 30 minutes  3 to 5 students = 50 minutes

CURRICULUM & STUDENT HOME MATERIAL FEES

I am a certified Simply Music instructor and as such follow the prescribed course of instruction as spelled out on the Simply Music website at www.SimplyMusic.com or in the curriculum overview link on this page.  It is a carefully designed comprehensive music education program with an extensive and diverse repertoire.

It is expected that students have a well-maintained instrument at home to practice on. An acoustic piano is not required, but strongly recommended. If an acoustic piano is not an option, a digital piano is an excellent alternative.  There are feature suggestions in my complete Studio Policies if you are shopping for a digital piano.

To ensure both the teacher’s and student’s success, students are required to purchase the Simply Music instructional materials to use at home. Professionally prepared to the highest standards, these video, audio and print aids allow students to easily and effectively review most of the material presented in their lessons. Regardless of the student’s age or experience, the Student Home Materials dramatically increase his or her results and playing satisfaction. Materials are available to purchase in digital-only format or hard-copy materials with digital reference.  The Better Practice App is also available to enhance your home practice experience.  Your teacher will discuss these options and the associated cost.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The roles and responsibilities outlined in my complete studio policies are in place to help you to achieve the absolute best results.  Students, parents, and teachers all have equally important roles and responsibilities.

TERMINATING LESSONS

I encourage students to commit to lessons for the full year.  However, you are not locked into an annual contract.  If circumstances require a student to terminate lessons mid-term, please provide one month's written notice to end lessons.

Teaching is my profession as well as my art.  I acknowledge my students' and their parents' place in a three-way relationship and pledge to do my best to make the study of piano and music in general a rich, fun and growing experience for my students!
